While the topic of this novel generates quite a bit of controversy, the language and diction used by the author I found to be quite excellent. Although his love was for a minor, the details and language within which he would describe his love and lust for her were most certainly erotic at times, because even though the “object” of desire may have been different to the reader, it was definitely relatable, and I thought much better conveyed than many novels which try to capture the essence of wanting someone physically, and possessively. I also thought that the author was able to convey the the psyche of obsession quite perfectly, and included poetic incerpts which were great pieces that also displayed Nabokov’s control over writing in such a psychotic manner.
